Charging VR Headset while flying

A Quest 3 will usually last about 2-2.5 hours on it's own battery. This can be enough for a normal competition flight if it is fully charged beforehand but for longer flights or when you forgot to charge your headset, another solution is needed. The Quest 3's fast charging rate requires 9V at 2 A (18W). There are many options to keep the headset charged. Here are 4 options:

  1. Use an external battery pack to keep your headset charged.

There are a number of options available. Some attach to 3rd party head straps although you could use a high wattage (>18W) usb power bank with a usb cable as well.

You can purchase a USB cable that has an additional input on it that you can plug the charger that came with your headset into that will then charge your headset.

  1. Wirelessly connect to your PC, use the charger that came with your Quest and plug into a wall outlet.
  2. Use a usb port on your computer that can charge at higher voltage and amperage.

Some video cards have high power usb ports. You could install a high power usb port on your computer. This would likely be the most expensive option.
