Convert fpl to tsk for use in XCSoar
Condor saves flight plans in .fpl - to use a task file in XCSoar you must convert fpl to tsk.
There is a program to do this, once you get it set up it's a few clicks.
This program can do a lot of things but the scope of this help file is to get the task converted.
Get CoTaCo
Get it here https://condorutill.fr/CoTaCo.html
The latest is 4.4 but I use 4.3.2 and screenshots may not be 100% accurate to the latest. Use the latest version. It stands for COndor TAsk COnverter. It's weird I know. He's french.
Save/Install CoTaCo
I think where most people get tripped up is that the utility has to be installed in a drive location with no spaces. It won't be able to find the ini file it creates and will error out. Maybe its been fixed but I'm not sure.
Save it to a location with no spaces anyway, I have mine saved to C:\Condor3\CoTaCoV432
You can make a shortcut to the exe and put that anywhere.
Run CoTaCo.exe
It's been a while since I've run it but it will ask you a few things and create an ini file. This ini file can be modified at any time by clicking setup
Here is setup
I believe at a minimum you need to tell it where XCSoar lives, or where it should put the tsk file when it's finished. XCSoar on windows lives in documents\XCSoarData so the program is ready to load it without moving the file.
Click Save.ini to close
Convert the fpl file
To convert a file simply DOUBLE CLICK on the flight plan
This brings up a windows explorer window asking you which fpl you want to convert
Select the file and click open
Now that you've selected the fpl, click the very well described OK button
After a few seconds, a confirmation window appears telling you what it did. This is a success. If your windows shows some sort of error, describe it in discord and I can add it to the wiki. Likely there is some configuration not set up and it should tell you what's wrong.
In the above image I have written the tsk file to XCSoarData and it tells me what the name is.
At this point we have converted the fpl to tsk.
