Pinning Apps in VR - Meta Quest

  1. You will need the Meta Quest Link application installed and configured on your Windows PC.
  2. To connect the Quest headset to your PC, open the Quick Settings Menu (click on your clock) and click on the 'Link' button (click is trigger/index finger button).

Open Link App

  1. Connect via wired or wireless connection. Then you will be in the Quest Link App. Select the Desktop button from the menu bar. You may want to hide the Explore and Library windows by clicking on their respective menu buttons to minimize them or the small line in the bottom right corner of the window. You can move windows with the Grip button on your Quest controller (Grip button = Middle finger button) including moving the screen closer and further away.

  1. You should see your Windows desktop. It is best to use your PC's mouse for most things on the desktop. The Quest remotes can crash apps, especially XCSoar. Open XCSoar now. Next we want to pin XCSoar by clicking on the '+' button in the Quest Link app menubar.

  1. Select XCSoar:

  1. Now we want to pin XCSoar so it is visible on top of all apps (like Condor). The 'Pin to Experience' button will be at the bottom of the new XCSoar window, pictured as a push pin.

  1. Now you can move the window around with the grip button. You may need to resize the XCSoar window with your mouse as the Quest controllers tend to crash XCSoar. Test it out while running Condor. It takes some trial and error to get XCSoar a comfortable size and placement.
